This course is built  to teach you the basics of laboratory safety and is appropriate for anyone who works in a lab environment.


You will learn about common hazards found in the lab environment and effective ways to prevent risks to your safety and health.


This class discusses topics including Chemical Hygiene Plan, GHS hazard communication, Hazard identification, Employee monitoring, Chemical Hygiene Officer duties, NFPA 30 Control Areas and NFPA 45 Lab Units, OSHA controlled chemicals including Methylene Chloride “DCM”,  Using written Lab Safe Work plans developed at HAZMATEAM,  Laboratory safe and healthful practices, procedures and SOP's, common and not so common  hazards, and much more.

  • OSHA chemical regulations and health guidelines in subpart Z (including PEL, Medical monitoring and Exposure determination)
