This course is intended for those employees who handle hazardous waste at Massachusetts HW generator locations. Hazardous waste handlers are those who mark/label HW containers, inspect containers, handle HW containers and/or sign the HW Manifest. Course addresses the Massachusetts Hazardous Waste regulations, 310 CMR 30.000, in effect on April 24, 2024 (last updated by MA DEP November, 2019).
This course addresses the generator training requirements of the Massachusetts HW regulations as described in 310 CMR 30.000. Topics include background, terminology, listed and characteristic wastes, universal waste, waste oil, empty containers, solvent wiper exemptions, generator status, satellite accumulation standards, central accumulation standards, and manifesting.
Students should plan on spending approximately 4-5 hours at the computer working on this course. Students may stop and restart the course at their own pace. The course consists of video, practice problems and an examination. Upon successful completion of an online test, students will be issued a certificate. Students can always call or e-mail an instructor while working on course materials. Students will be provided with an electronic manual that includes all course materials.
